London Heathrow was snowed in after 200 flights were cancelled to minimise disruption to passengers amid forecasts of six inches of snow and possible freezing fog.  This had left around 18,000 travellers scrambling to adjust their travel plans. (Up to 16 cm of snow was on the runways), only 50 per cent of the 1,300 scheduled flights were going ahead. Even though the BAA has increased its Heathrow snowplough fleet by 68 to 185 at a cost of £32.4million it left some passengers furious also faced a night sleeping on terminal floors.

Most London minicabs to Heathrow were grounded as there was dense fog and icy roads, the driving conditions were soo bad that the North Yorkshire Fire Service said the multiple incidents started at about 2.15am and advised motorists not to travel on the A1 until further notice from the police.  Heathrow has resumed it’s flights again but warns the it the coming weeks/days further cancellations will be done as its to be said that it will not get warmer in the next 10 days.

Black cab drivers are likely to reject the plan to increase the fares by 22% during the Olympics.

The Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association has said that more than 40% of their black cab drivers will go on strike during the Olympics unless the rates during the day are the same as the rates during the evening.

Also other drivers have said that by increasing the fare they are damaging the cabs reputations.

It is predicted that there will be too many vehicles on the roads thus causing congestion and taxi drivers will not be allowed to use the games lane that will be provided for the Olympics which causes more problems for black cab drivers, London cabs report.

In a bid to move foward in zero emissions after the first electrical mincab was put on the roads in london’s capital.

These cars are are charged by electricity and run off only electricity which makes it very eco friendly

Eco-focussed London cab hire firm are the first to put two fluence model vehicals onto the roads in preparation for there autumn release.

The prices of these cars will be similar to exiting hybrid models that are all ready on the market for hire.

“It’s great Climate cars is doing its bit to make London a greener place by offering a great alternative to the humble black cab,” the Minister said.
