Gatwick is the second largest airport in London the airport figures show 8.6 per cent increase to their turnover £517.4 million. Gatwick was sold in 2009 for £1.5 billion and since then numbers have shot up and traffic grew 6.9 percent to 33.8 million
Right now Gatwick is looking to open a new run way to support its ever growing number of people coming in. Gatwick has to compete with Heathrow, Luton and stansted airports in England but its seen numbers grow every month.
Bosses at Gatwick said they are spending £20 million a month on the airport and looking to spend around £435 in the next two years. Gatwick said the new increase could be due to new facilities and connection around the bigger economies like china, South Korea and Hong Kong meaning Asia is a big market right now.
